Smyrna resident Leo Smith is a Virginia native who courageously overcame extreme childhood poverty to excel in classical music, academics and aquatics, and was the first in his family to earn a college degree. Upon graduation from Virginia Tech University, Leo joined the university as a faculty member and later forged a successful career in business management. The last four years, Leo used his deep-rooted conservative principles as Georgia’s State GOP Director of Voter Engagement to work statewide to win state, national and local elections. In Cobb County, Leo has been active in a conservative think tanks and has worked passionately for lower taxes, business growth, charter schools and school choice. He is an active member of Mount Paran Church, coaches little league baseball, and is devoted to his wife, Andrea, and two children.
As District 6 State Senator, Leo will work tirelessly to help small businesses and start-ups through deregulation; will work to attract jobs by supporting legislation to put Georgia on the path toward zero state income tax; and will continue his work to improve teacher compensation and school choice. Leo has been a frequent guest in the media supporting empowering legislative action.
